The idea behind the Christmas tree from wood

Every year I buy a tree, sometimes too small, scrawny or irregular. How do I transport it, needles everywhere in…

Unfair conditions when harvesting tree seeds, monocultures, pesticides, long transport routes and disposal or better a plastic tree?

Stress at a time we want to enjoy.

Christmas means thinking of others, giving, taking time for yourself and others, reflecting on what is important in life.

Joy & givingthat is the idea of the Christmas tree from wood!

HOW IT ALL STARTED

FAQ's about the Christmas tree from wood

Our Christmas tree is not just a product, it’s a concept

  • Charity included

From the very beginning, charity was part of the concept or vice versa, our Christmas tree was a means to an end. Proceeds from sales are topped up with private funds and go to organisations that work with children and animal welfare every year.

  • Convenient and practical

    • The assembly
can be set up in seconds, and the Christmas decorations supplied can be attached in no time at all. Of course, you can also decorate it individually.
    • Dismantling
is just as quick as setting it up
    • The fairy lights
We have opted for simple LED fairy lights with USB connection, the length of which is adapted to our trees. Fire protection, location-independent operation without batteries using a power bank or power adapter were our arguments in favour of this solution.
    • The storage of our trees
They are as flat and compact as possible – probably the flattest Christmas trees in the world. You get them in a storage box made of sturdy hard cardboard (recycled waste paper). This box provides protection and space for the tree and Christmas decorations. This saves storage space and makes assembly and disassembly easier. The slim packaging also makes transport more efficient. You can even wipe the sturdy hard cardboard with a damp cloth if it gets dusty.
  • Ecological and sustainable

    • Multiple use
Every use is a contribution to less consumption. This means lower costs for you, less transport, hardly any waste and significantly lower CO2 emissions overall.
    • Materials and supply chain
We have focussed on quality and short supply routes for the basic materials we use. For example, the trunks for our Happy Tree are made from high-quality production waste. Our large production machine also comes from an Austrian company.
    • Plastic-free
We use no plastic at all for the tree, the storage box and the shipping packaging.
    • Disposal
Of course, we would be delighted if you took care of your Christmas tree and it eventually became a traditional family favourite. Nevertheless, it may happen that… – then it can be recycled in an environmentally friendly way as cardboard, metal and wood.

The development of our wooden tree took a lot of time and experimentation. The shape of the spiral depends on the thickness of the wood, the type of wood, the number of turns and the height of the tree and is different for each tree size. The wood was specially made for our production – top quality plywood!

There are also other DIY Christmas trees and a lot of nice ideas that we have put together for you on our Pinterest profile.

If you want to build your own wooden Christmas tree but don’t have the space or the right tools, we recommend a “maker space”. We also started our prototypes there!

Almost everyone agrees on one point: it should not lose any needles. There is also a lot of common ground on another point: the Christmas tree is an expression of the mood you want to create at Christmas.

Some like it simple and contemplative, for others it is the spark for a Christmas firework display with flashing reindeer, Santa Clauses and snowmen on the roof and in the front garden.

Apart from that, we have noticed that many trees in drawings and illustrations have a ratio of width to height of 1:1.6 The natural fir tree has its ‘edges and corners’, its trunk becomes thinner towards the top.

Our trees interpret this appearance and the idea of Christmas.

A spiral does not always have to be round. The angular shape stylises the appearance of a fir tree. In addition, the hexagonal basic shape makes it wider and less deep. This means your Christmas tree takes up less space and can also be stowed away to save space!

  • Spiral trees are often awkwardly hung on a stand. With us, you first screw in the trunk and then conveniently pull up the spiral.
  • Every tree needs a base or stand. We have attached the frame for our spiral tree under the spiral. This saves even more space when setting up and in the packaging. At the same time, this frame is also the stand in the shape of a Christmas tree cross.
  • The base of the tree is firmly attached to the frame of the spiral. This means that our tree is very stable and can hardly tip over.
  • Our tree does not use plastic and our packaging is also plastic-free.
  • Our Christmas tree is as compact as possible when folded. This helps you to store the tree in a space-saving way and makes it easier to transport.

Our aim was to make assembly as quick and easy as possible. Few parts make it easy to set up. If you count the star, you have 4 parts:

  • Tree
  • trunk
  • Pin for hanging the spiral
  • Christmas star

At the beginning, we looked into this question intensively until we found out that a sumptuous Christmas dinner causes more CO2 than a Christmas tree – no matter which one.

So it’s more about your attitude to the environment as a whole than about this question. Nevertheless, we have dedicated a separate page with answers to the ecology of the Christmas tree.

For the lighting, we recommend a simple LED light chain – it’s lightweight, there’s no risk of fire and it’s safer for pets. If you operate it with a power bank, you are also independent of a power socket! You can use the original tree decorations to fix the beginning and end of the fairy lights to the tree, but you can also attach your own decorations. However, avoid hanging heavy items.
